At a meeting of the Kahautara River Board yesterday it was resolved to employ Mr. Laing Meason to report on th-o engineering part of a scheme to put a stop-bank m the Kahautara River district. Milk has risen in price at Cartertoii by a halfpenny a pint. At a meeting of tie management committee of St. Mark's Sunday School, Carter ton, last night tho receipts at tho recent picnic were reported to be £7 2s Bd, leaving a credit of £3 lls for distribution in prizes. MASTERTON, This Day. Large entries have been received for the A. and P. Association's annual show. Ernest Short (Feilaing) has 25 entries, including recent importations. Gray Bros., W. Raynor (Taratahi), W. B. and G. E. Allen (Clareville), W. H. Buick, and J. Wilton (Porirua) are amongst the exhibitors. A man named Allen was arrested yesterday on a charge of forgery and uttering a cheque. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of another man supposed to be in Wellington. Several valueless cheques have been accepted locally during the last few days. The weather conditions appear f avourabls to rain ; the sky is overcast with heavy clouds, and the wind is froni an easterly direction. ,
