Elliott). — This was a case in ■which one William Cunninghame, a, ibrewery employee, nineteen years and eleven months of age, brought before the court the matter of his intended marriage with one Kate Kathleen M'Conaghey. His parents objected to tho proposed union on the ground that he was under age. The parents of the other party to the intended union mado no objection, and Cunninghame sought the court's intervention. His Honour said the court liad no jurisdiction, anil refused to make an older. [BT TELZGBAFII. — IUSF.sa ASSOCIATION.] TIMARU, This Day. lbs criminal sessions of the Supreme Court opened hero this morning, before Jilr Justice Denniston, who said the district was to be congratulated on its comparative freedom from crime,. There wero only three cases, all from outside Timaru. Henry Cox, a youth of 19, wan sentenced to three months' imprisonment for a breach of tho Probation Act. Albert Sinis, for an attempted serious crime near Ashburton, was sentenced to seven years' imprisonment, the Judge remarking that it was not safe to allow such a man to mix with society. Accused* is only twenty years of age, ;tnd in 1904 ho was convicted at Wellington for an assault on a girl ton yeais old. Mr. T. Shields will be in attendance at Te Aro baths every Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock to give school children instructions in swimming and lifesa\ing. Ho will also supervise the swimming for proficiency certificates. Mr. A. A. Somerville will be at the baths every Saturday afternoon to give instruction.
