Under a. favourable so-uthevly wind ft raco was bailed on Saturday aften.oon, under tho auspices of the P.N.Y.0., bo> tween first-class yachts. Tho competition was for tho Milk' Memorial -Cup. Three bop.ts, Waitangi/ Syren, and Ngaira — faced tho starter. The Syren had 16 minutes handicap, tho Ngaira had 14 minutes, and the Waitangi was on tho scratch mark. Tho Waitangi, after an.-interesting race, came homo irst, her time being lhr 47min 45sec. Tho Syren finished second in 2hr ssoc, and the Ngaira third in 2hr 12min 556ec. On time allowance tho Ngaira was awarded first pltsco. The rosult of tho race leavea tho Slills' Memorial Cup still open for .competition. If the Wail&ncfi had won oji\ Saturday tho trophy would have become- the property of tho owners of that yacht. It has to bo won twico in succession or three times at intervals.
