VOLUNTARY REGISTRATION. PRISONERS' SENTENCES REMITTED. By Telegraph. — Press Association, — Copyright. PRETORIA, 31st January. l Mr. J. C. Smuts, Colonial Secretary, has accepted an assurance given by leaders of the Asiatics that they will make voluntary legistration effective. The sentences of all those now in prison have been "emitted. Finger-prints are dispensed with in tho case of educated Asiatics and tlicsa who arc pioperty-ownors, and others whose identity, is ctsv to establish. Mr. Smuts allows all Indians entitled to register an opportunity to do so during the next three months. 2\o information th© giving of which may offend religious susceptibilities will be asked for.
