VICTORIA v. NEW SOUTH WALES. By Telegraph. — Press Association. — Copyright. SYDNEY, 28th January. In the match Victoria v. New South Wales, continued to-day, tho former's second innings now stands at seven wickets for 363— Ransford 129, Tarrant (not out) 120. Ransford played beautiful cricket,but had a couple of "lives." Tarrant was very slow in scoring. The Victorians in their first innings made 402, and the Now South Wales team 461. Ransford's previous best score for Victoria against New South Wales was 62, although last year, in tho Gregory Benefit match, he made 136 for the fcejt of Australia against that State. This season he has now notched a three figure innings for Victoria against South Australia. England, and New South Wales. The Fitzroy player has quite sustained his English form, and has performed yeoman service for his State. Opposed /to the Britishers, he has totalled 65, 81, and 159 ; in the match with the South Australians he gathered 165, whilst the Sydney men have had figures of 16, 46, 79, and 120 not out, hoisted against them. He failed, however, at Brisbane for an eleven of Australia, being dismissed by the Englishmen for scores of 2 and 3. Jlis aggregate is thus 676 runs ,f.or nine completed innings, yielding an average of 75.11.
