Though ten cases of typhoid fever have ionifi under the notice of the District Health Officer since Ist January, the disease does not seem to bo gaining ground; only one case has been reported since Saturday. The appearance of typhus is not restricted to any particular locality; the cases aro widely distributed. Edward Winter, on remand, was charged at tho Magistrate's Court today before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., with indecently assaulting a little girl on the 17th January, and, on the application of Mr. Wilford, was further remanded until Friday next.
