A large lemon of beautiful hue and contour was to-day bi ought into The Evening Post Office. Dissection showed that the rind was thick, hut there was a good-sized interior of luscious trwturc. The fruit came from a giove al Takuku, in Tasman Bay, Nelson province. It is stated that- the lemons are allowed to drop to the ground there and rot, a waste which suggests that the crop could be put to better uses. It is mentioned that New Zealand could grow its own lemons, nnd be independent of the foreign producers. Small steamers could approach Takaka, in case the trade was conftidered worth' developing. Takaka, with its lemon groves nnd other picturesque vegetation, is a place whose beauties escape the holiday-maker.
