WORKERS OF THE WORLD. MEETING IN WELLINGTON.

A meeting of workers interested in the formation of a Wellington Branch of the Industrial Workers of the World wais held at the Socialist Hall, Man-ners-street, last evening. The proceedings were in committee. The constitution of the Workers of tho World was considered clause by clause and adopteS The mseting then adjourned for a week. The-, preamble of the adopted constitution reads as follows : — "Tho rapid gathering of wealth and the centreing of the management of industries into fewer and fewer hands, make trades unionism' unable to cops with the evergrowing power, of the employing class, Because the trades unions foster a stateof things "which allows one set o£ workers to bfc pitted again&t another Vt of worker's in tho jume industry, thereby helping, to defeat one anoth?r in wage wais. The- trades, unions aid the employing class to mislead the workers into th© belief that the working ciass have interests in common with their employers. "These conditions can be changed, and the- interests of the working class upheld, only by an organisation formed in such a' way Jjiat all its members in any, one industry or in all industries, if necesSnvy, cease work whenever a itriko or lockout is on in any department thereof, thus making an injury to onean injury to all." The. movement originated in the Jnitcd States, and has made considerable progress in that country. Its avowed aims are to band together tho whole of the world's workers.-

A woman, 83 years old, who successfully masqueraded as a man for more than 60 years, has died in the municipal hospital at Trinidad, Colorado. Her real name was Kathcrine Vosbaugh ; she was born in France, and emigrated to America at tho ago of 18. She found it difficult to get employment, and adopted male attire, and became a clerk at Joplin, Missouri. Sho proposed marriage to a girl, vosbaugh' mealed her *px al the timo of tho propobfil, and exacted an oath from the girl that she would never betiay her. Tho "marriage" actually took place, but VosbaughV'wifo" deserted her goon after. Voabaujrh went to Colorado, and worked for many years as a thrpherd and cowboy for tho past 20 year 0 she had been employed ac a messenger at Trinidad. '
