A man named William .vf'Brid© was charged with having assaulted his daughter by flogging her with a cartwhip. The accused elected to be dealt with summarily, and pleaded guilty. It appears that accused became enraged because the girl, who was about twenty years of age, did .not put a cover on a horse, and he beat her unmercifully j with a whip-handle, using both ends. 1 According to Dr. Volckman, who ex--1 amined the girl, thero were contusions on her back and arms, and in addition to being beaten she had apparently been kicked as well.
