AMATEUR ATHLETICS.

TO-MORKOW'S PROGRAMME. The athletic sports gathering to bo held on the Basin Reserve to-morrow afternoon under the management of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association's local centre promises to furnish exciting sport. H. Kerr, H. Henderson", L. M'Kay, M. Mulcahy, W. Gosling, and a largo number of promising young athletes hare been in active "training for the past six weeks, and should give excellent athletic exhibitions. Mr. Kcrr, holder of the one mile walking lecord, arrived from Tnranaki during the week, and has been putting in some- useful practice at the Basin Reserve, and is expected to easily concede the long starts set him by the handicappers. The polevaulting will be of especial interest., inasmuch as the bamboo vaulting-poles lately imported from Japan will be used for the first time in tho Dominion, and in the hands of L. M'Kay, the present Uevr Zealand champion vaulter, a good test should eventuate. Music and afternoon tea. will 'be provided. The first event wiil start at two o'clock.
