Hoskins, who are taking over the Lithgow ironworks, in addition to taking Mr. Sandford's place at the Lank, pay Mr. Sandford £10,000 in cash and give him promissory notes' for £40,000, negotiable immediately. They also pay off creditors to 'the extent of £26,000. The new firm is said to be possessed of sufficient capital and enterprise to make the industry an assured success. It has been computed that 3000 persons would have been detrimentally affected had tho works closed down.
