HARBOUR BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Harbour Board, held yesterday afternoon, was attended by the Hon. T. K. Macdonald (chairman), Messrs. F. H. Fraser, W. T. Wood, M.P., Harold Beauchamp, C. E. Daniell, JR. Fletcher, Geo. Shirtcliffe, and the Hon. T. W. Hislop. Leave of absence was granted -to Messrs. J. M'Lellan, F. Townsend, and X M. Wilford. The financial statement showed that the currency account was in credit to the extent of £6529, and the imprest account to the extent of £900, while a sum of £60,000 is now on fixed deposit. Tho total payments required amounted to £21,716, the principal items being: Accounts and wages, £14,807 ; progress .• payments on contracts, £6162 ; salaries for December, £746. The chairman reported that tho tender of Messrs. A. and T. Burt, Limited, for the supply of lOcwt craves and S'iggers for the King's Wharf Stores or the sum of £3702, being the lowest and in order, had been accepted,' with "Mes3i'S. Robert Johnston and J. Robin as sureties. The chairman, also reported that Messrs. A. and T. Burt, Limited, have withdiawn their oiler to construct twelve hydraulic double-powered gantry cranes • for Aho King's Wharf for the sum of £13,620. The matter ■was subsequently discussed in committee, and it was decided 'to accept the j offer of Messrs. Anderson and Co., of | Christ church, to do tho work at £16,179. ' • , The letter from the Miraman Borough Council, drawing attention to tho need for additional wharf accommodation at Miramar was refeiTed "to the Wharvgs and Accounts Committee. On the recommendation of the Wharves and Accounts Committee, it was decided to call for tenders for 250 tons of cut and punched steel hoops of malleable cast studs. The board agreed to pay half the cost of eoweriug the Waterloo-quay reclamation, the 'ether half to be h,orne by the City Council. In committee, the board decided to appoint Mr. H. E. Mcholls Sinking Fund Commissioner in place of Mr. William Ferguson. Mr. D. T. Stuart's honorarium as auditor was increased. The special 1 meeting to consider tho position of tho board in relation to its intended purchase of the Patent Slip was fixed for Monday afternoon.
