FALLEN SOLDIERS' MEMORIALS

[B 7 TZLZGRAPH. — *eRES3 ASSOOIATIOJI.J DUNEDTN, 18th December. The Fallen Soldiers' Memorial Committee brought its labours to a close to-day, and disbanded. It received some £1600,^ and after providing a marblo memorial to 1 fallen soldiers and eoinmemorativo tablets for schools, had a surplus of £40. Halt of this is to bo spont on a souvenir to the lion secretary (Mr. G. Duncan) and the balance will be given to the Veterans' Homo, Auckland. NEW PLYMOUTH, 18th December. At a meeting of tho Marsland Hill Memorial Committee, to consider the erection of a suitable memorial on an eminence in the centre of tho town, to Imperial and colonial troops who fell in the Maori wars, it was reported that £300 had been colleotcd, and • a Government subsidy of £300 promised. Donations had been received from officers in all parts of the world who took part in tho warE. It was decided to call for competitive designs for a monument.
