Quick, H. F. Yon Baasfc, C. Wilson, | F. P. Wilson, P. M'Callum, A. R. Meek, C. Watson, A. T. M'Ginmty, and C- P. Powlas (secretary). The appointment of a successor to Professor Maclaurin in the department of mathematics was considered in committee. Out of 37 candidates, 28 from -the United- Kingdom, 4 from Australia, aiid 5 from New Zealand, Mr. David Kennedy Picken, M.A., was elected. The successful candidate is at present' chief assistant to the 'Professor of Mathematics and also Lecturer on Mathematics at Glasgow University. Mr. Picken,' who was one of the three candidates selected from among the British applicants by ths English Board of Advice, consisting of Dr. Baker, of Cambridge, and the High Commissioner, took his JEA. degree, with fiist-class honours in mathematics and natural philosophy at Glasgow, andithe. B.A. degree with honours at 'Cambridge, ■when he came out Sixth Wjangler.
