SHEARERS' DISPUTE.

o Tlis demands of the Shearers' Union, fc nummary of which we published last Tuesday, have been filed with the Clerk of Awards in Wellington. The Conciliation Board will sit at the Supreme Courthouse on 31.st December to open the investigation of the dispute. The country sittings of the boardi will be as follows: — Masterton, 13th January; Napier, 15th January ; Pnlmereton North, 17th January ; Wanganui, 20th JanuaTj-. The Wellington sitting will be resumed on 22nd January.

Tho Canterbury Museum has just been enriched by the acquisition of tho late Mr. C. N. Wakefield's eomprehensivo collection of Now Zealand insects, presented to Iho institution by bis widow. The collection is rather for study than for general exhibition, but it is Jipped (o show it for a week, after which time the rases will have- to be covered from the light in order. to prevent/ deterioration of tho .insects^, colouring. Thereafter the specimens' may be viewed by students on application to the Curator. It is intended to keep the collection separate, and to name it "The Wakeficld Collection." j . Drs.
