ST. PETER'S MISSION.

The now mission church in Taranakis.treet in connection with St. Peter's Anglican Church will bo ' dedicated 'by Archdeacon Fancourt this evening. The mission, which has progressed considerably under Mr. Walton, the lay evangelist, had long outgrown its ■ quarters, and an anonymous donor came forward and offered to givo the building as a memorial 1 chapel. The structure has cost £750, exclusive of furniture and equipment, , and much of this material has been given, including a bell, a reading doslc carved and- pre'santed by Chinese, a brass cross • and sanctuary carpet. The land on which' the church is situated is church property, bufc is mortgaged. Approach -to the church is by a, right-of-way. Tho building is in brick,, and iron roofed. Seating accommodation is provided for 230. The altar is very prettily designed, the letters Alpha and Omega appearing in high relief on either- side, and IHS in the centre. Tho sacred furniture can be completely concealed by folding doois, and the raised approach used for secular purposes if necessary. On either i side of the. altar avo roomy vestries. There is ample ventilation, and tho building is lighted from the roof, with electricity availabls as an jJluminant at night.
