[I'BESS ASSOCIATION.! FASTING. AUCKLAND, 6th December. The fasting euro has claimed at least one believer in Auckland, the subject being a dropsical patient, who has subsisted on Jimo juice and water without food for seventeen days up to the present time. The patient undergoing this tieatmenb is a lady, who stated that for the first three days of her fast she suifered a good deal from acute- hunger, but si nro then her self-imposed denial of food has caused her no inconvenience. While previous to her fasting she- was practically an invalid, now she is able to undertake housework. The experiment will bo watched with interest. DIVORCE CASE. AUCKLAND, 6th December. In the Divorce Courl this afternoon Mary Jane Peterson sought a dissolution of her marriage with Martin Adrian Peterson on the ground of misconduct. A decree nisi was granted with costs. THE STAMP ACT. AUCKLAND, 6th Decomber. Mr. S. Mays, on behalf of the Stamp Department, prosecuted the Taupiri South Coal Company, Limited, for failing to comply with the requirements of section 100 of the Companies Act, 1903, necessitating tho annual forwarding to the Registrar of Companies the list of shareholders and summary of capital. The information applied to fhc- two years 1905-1906, ami 1906-1007. Mr. Moore, for the defendant company, explained that in May of last year a slide had occurred in all tho company's mines, which had blocked all operations, and had somewhat disorganised matters. The secretary had, however, instructed ;i ele-i'k to torward the returns, but Iho matter hud, apparently, been overlooked. A fine of £1 and co&ts was imposed on each of tho two informations. The maximum penalty, remarked Mr. Mays for the benefit of those who may need the warning, is £5 a, day for the whole interval of remissness. BANKRUPT IN TROUBLE. ASIJBURTON, 6th December. At the Magistrate's Court, to-day, before Mr. V. G. Day, S.M., Arthur*Lonsdale Zouch, who became bankrupt six weeks ago, was charged on three counts with failing to keep proper books, with concealing or destroying certain books relating to his affairs, and with failing to produce certain books. Accused Teserved his defence, and was committed for trial. HORSE STEALING. DUNEDIN, 6th December. John Hunter, alias Robert Findlny, was brought before the Supreme Court for sentence on a charge of horse-steal-ing, to which ho had pleaded guilty in tho Lower Court yesterday, and was sentenced to six months' imprisonment.
