City had a strong team in the field, while Wellington, owing to, minor injuries to several of their leading players, were poorly represented. The best players for City were :— Paul, Crome, Wilson, Robinson, Hayes, and Bowe. Westwood, Reid, Ward, Heathorri, Nathan, Reilly, and Neates, for Wellington, strove hard to avert defeat.
