♦ Mr. Thos. Ballinger, who has recently Kturnfed from a tour abroad, was last night wekoaied lxick by lel^ow-membeis to his seat on the Technical Education Board. > Tho Rev. F. W. Lsitt, secretary 'of tho New Zealand Alliance, loft for the far north yosterday on a three months' vacation. During Mr. Isitt's absence Mr. S. G. Hoare will act as secretary of tho alliance. Mr. C. G. Weston, on severing his connection with the Evening Post to-day, after five years' ssrvica on its reporting stall', was presented by his comrades with a memento of their esteem. In making the presentation, Mr. Gresley Lakin, editor of the Post, spoke in terms of praise concerning the thoroughness with which Mr. Weston had always forformsd the duties devolving upon im. Mr. Thomas Fenton, who was reported in yesterday's cable msssagte to have been killed in an accident in Perth, was a, native of the North of Ireland, and about fifty yoars of age. Ho came out to New Zealand when a youth, and lived in the Auckland district until a few years ago, when ho left for the Wast Coast, afterwards settling down in West Australia, where he was very successful in several mining ventures. Tho lAatomobiliste' Conference, to bo commenced in Wellington to-night, will •be r.ttended tfy ths following dolegates:—Wellington, the Hon. T. W. Hislop, Mr. C. M. Banks ; Dunedin, Dr. l'ulton, ->ir. Chas. Fox ; Auckland, Messrs. Luxford and Henning; Christchurch, Dr. Thacker, Mr. R. M. iuacdonald; Nelson, Messrs. Jenny and Coote. It is expected that delegates from other centres will ako attend.
