[BT TBLEGRAPH. — PKES3 ASSOCIATION.} DANNEVIRKE, This .Day. The municipal abattoirs, costing £5000, was successfully opened yesterday in the presence of a large gathering of spectators. At a poll taken yesterday, the ratepayers carried a proposal for the extension of the waterworks at a cost of £6.000 ; also to initiate a system of rating on the unimproved value, the voting being — for 308, against 94. The latepayers refused, however, to endorse the proposal to raise £15,000 to either purchase the present gas works, owned by a syndicato, or erect a municipal gas works, the voting being— for 169 A against 222.
