Manning and Christie, who were arrested in connection with the robbery on tha steamer Navua, came before tho Water Police Court yesterday. Detective Walker seated that, owing to instructions from the Auckland police, ho had no evidence to offer. Accused were discharged. They subsequently left for Auckland. In October last a thousand sovereigns were stolen from the steamer Navua while on a voyage to the Islands. It was alleged that Patrick Manning, one of those arrested, was on watch on the Navua on the night the robbery was committed. The information which caused the Sydney police to arrest him was supplied by the New Zealand Police Department.
