Dr. J. Miller, of Dunedin, loft for London to-day by the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Orari. Sir Joseph and Lady Ward arrived in 'Adelaide to-day, en route for London. They are to leave for Fremantlo tomorrow. Tho Hon. Oliver Samuel (according to an exchange) leaves for Australia, en route for China and Japan, at the end of the present month. Mr. and Mrs. F. Feist, and Miss Feist,' lato of Cartorton, and now of Wellington, leave by the Monowai nest Friday, en route for a tour of Egypt and the Continent of Europe. They rotusn in November next. There was (telegraphs our correspondent) a large gathering at the Town Hall, Dunetiin, yesterday afternoon, Mfhen Mr. Mark Cohen, editor of the £tar, was made the recipient of a purso | ©f sovereigns from the Dunedin citizens. The Mayor, who presided, paid a tribute to the zeal and determination with which, as & citizen and a journalist. Mr, Cohen had advocated the prosecution of Qtago's arterial railways and the need for promoting settlement.
