Ihoy are of a class, he thinks, which no G6vevnment should offer to its -employees, the outsid© being of the cheap character, while inside no attempt whatever has been, made to provide things which add to ihe conveniences of the inmates. The Minister hns urged the .Railway Commissioner to build a bettor class of structure and provide additional comforts whenever opportunity offers. l r J The fifth year of Bauka's Commercial College is now fairly commenced, and, from present indications, tho director report*, it promises to be a record year. This institution it now thoroughly well known in Wellington, and a description of iiz tumi ii hardly necessary. A noteworthy development in last year's work was the number of cases in which employers paid tho nocessnry fees for a courso of instruction to bo givon to their dorks and assistants. In n conversation with a member of our staff to-day Mr. Barton, the director, stated that tho mo«t gratifying feature iv his work was the. loyalty and uotivo support accorded to the collego by \i* prat students. At least' 50 nor cont. of tho new students enrolled this year had been introduced by na*t students — a fact that speaks eloquently or tho good opinion formed by them of tho value of tho training imparted. In a fo\y months the college will be located in new premises, occupying, in Ntihan'a now building, a floor specially fitted up for it* peculiar requirement!.
