Tho Union, Company have, been advised of an alteration in the weekly connection between Wellington and Sydney. The steamer Moeraki will now leave Wellington for tho New South Wales port on Friday, 22nd inst., instead of on Saturday, the 23rd, and steamers sailing each fortnight after the above date will sail on Friday instead of Saturday, so as to make tho Suez muil connection. CHANGES OF PURSERS. The, following changes of pursers in tho Onion Company's fleet are announced :— Mr. W. £wen, of the Arahur*, is to transfer to tho Pateena, Mr. Paaanore, of tho Corinna, joining the Arahura, and Mr. Evill, assistant of tho Arahura, going over to the Corinn«. Mr. Neall, who has been purser of the Wakatipu in Australia for some time, will arrive from Sydney by the- Maheno to join the Talune nest week. Mr. Dodd, of the Talunc, is to tmnsfer to the Waikarr. Mr. Mooney ia to take Mr. M'Kenzie's place- on the Penguin, Mr. M'K<jnzie joining tho Mapounka. SURREY, FROM LIVERPOOL. The New Zealand and African Company's steamer Surrey, which left Liverpool for Auckland on the 3rd December, arrived in the stream unexpectedly yesterday evening. The rca3on the vessel put into Wellington was that she had run ehort-of coal. The vessel will remain in the stream to-day replenishing her bunkers, and is expected to sail for Auckland between 8 and 9 o'olock to-night. The steamer has the following passengers on board:— For Wellington: First saloon — Mra. Bannerman, Messrs. A. R. Wilson, Zoltouskei, 69 third-class. For Lyttelton: First class— Mis L. Graham, Moan-s. S. F. Dunlop, W. L. Stephen, 26 third-class. For Port Chaltncts—s third-class. For Auckland: First-claw —Miss Wenworthy, 33 third-class. The Wellington and Southern passengers were landed here to-dsy. - THE OSWESTRY GRANGE. The New Zealand and African Company's steamer Oswestry Grange, which arrived from Liverpool via Australian ports and Auckland to-day, brought the following passengers for Wellington:— Saloon — Mr. M'Phajl, Missr J. Young, Mrs. L. Kohlheim, Messrs. W. T. Munro, Maxfleld. D. Russell, A. Sample, H. Sample , D. O. Filby, G. E. Shaw, W. Dobeon, Master Shw. Mn. Skew. M-" r°lsrr °ls r- Mr«snmpir, Mr, F. Andrews and eon. The vessel haa 76 third-class passengers for Wellington, 61 for Lyttelton, and 60 for Port Chalmers. About 122 passengers were landed at Auckland. The Shaw-Savill Company's steamer Tokomaru left Auckland for Wellington on Saturday evening. The vesseli ia calling at Gisborno and Napier on tho way down the coast, and is not expected to arrive here until the end of the week. The Union Company advise that the Arahura arrived at Weetport at midnight last night and sailed for Greymouth at 2 o'clock this morning. Tho Union Company's steamer Waipori ia expected to leave Wesrtpoit for Wellington at 2 o'clock to-morrow afternoon. The vessel is bringing a full cargo of coal. Captain Strong, who ha» been aoting Marine Superintendent of the Union Company for some, time past, has now been formally appointed to the position.
