RAM FAltt AT HASTINGS. , [V? /TELEGRAPH. — PBESS ASSOCIATION-. J NAPPJR, Slet January. Tto Annual ram fair was held pt Hastings to-day. The number of rams was the largest over offered, but stud rams wero comnara,tivoly few. Tho number of theso showed a great facing off from former years. Flock rams came forward in very large numbers. Practically only North Island breeders were represented. Nearly all the South' Island sheep which were on tho ground had been sent in by .other sellers. .There was. a good demand for Lincoln* and Romuoy Mairsh, especially the former, and good prices wero realised for fii?.t-clnss animals. Stud Lincolns went up to 50 guineas, that' price being paid for » rajn bred by Mr. Wtbourn, Whomwkura ; 49, 40, And 36 guineas wero paid for rams bred by Mr. W. Perry, Ma3terton. and 44 and 32 guineas for theop bred hy Mr. W. Raynor, Mai,terton. floc\ Lincojus went oj} to 10i guineas, this price being olitnined for sheep bred by Mr. J. Hwlings. Sfcud Somußys 1 easily topped the sale, tho record prica of 112 guineas being paid for a ram bred by Mr. E. J. Hiddiford, Oronsorongo. Other cheap by the same breeder brought 35, 28, and 26 guineas— For flock Romneyß, Mr. Rkjdiford bUg «curod the bfgbost prices, 7} arid '8J- guineas being the top figures. A fow flock English Leicesters EQld at 4J guinea. For flock Border Leicester* the top price was S guineas for" sheep bred by Mr. J. p. Hughes, Wa-vorley. Flock Southdowns made 64 guineas., paid for sheep bred by Mr. G. Rhodes, Ellesmere, paoiterbury; 4i sujnens was tho v top prico for Shropshiree, jVIr. James Johns'o sheep reaching that figuro; 4^ guineat was paid •for £omo cf Mr. Jmmes Little's Corriedules.
