FIRE AT ASHSURTON.

[BY TELEGRAPH. — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] ASHBURTON, This Day. About tea o'clock last night a twostorey wooden dwelling of fourteen rooms situated on Wakanui-road, occupied and owned by M. Moriaty, was totally destroyed by firo. Only a small quantity of furniture was saved. Thero was a stoppage in tho water supply, and the brigade was practically powerless. The tire is supposed to ha\o originated through one of the family inadvertently placing a lighted candle near the wall, and paper becoming ignited. The insurances on the building arc £400 in tho Alliance office, and on the furniture £100 in the North British office.
