HOSPITAL SUNDAY.

"Sympathiser" writes in, connection with Hospital Sunday, suggesting that the committee responsible for this laudable function should alter its raodo of gathering all the bands on one reserve. He points out that tho Basin Reserve is not tho most attractivo ground in the city, and on such a windy day as last Sunday turned' out is not so sheltered as N«wtown Park or the Botanical Gardens. Tho main point the writer mokes, liowovot, is that next year the experiment should be tried of allotting tho bands to diffcarenp points in the city — Newtcwn Park, Basin Reserve, Botanical Gardens, Esplanade, Kelburne (next year tho new park should- be available), Kilbirnk and tho Hutt and Petone. Thus contributors would bo enabled to enjoy a little outing whilst also helping to swell tho fund. The gathering- together of a laxge crowd is all very well from a spectacular point of view, but "Sympathiser" strongly holds that if his suggestion is carried out the contributions will bo greatly iacmised. The idea should be given somo consideration by tho Hos"'pital Sunday Committee. The Johnsonville Tovrn Band gave a performance in the local recreation ground in aid of the funds of the hospital. Tho ladies of the district took up a collection totalling £8 86, which they hope to increase to £10 within th© next day or two. JB* TBLKORAPH— PRESS ASSOOIATIOK.] DUNEDIN, 2nd December.
