A KILBIRNIE PROTEST.
TO TEE EDITOB. Sir, — I am pleased to see that at last the Eilbirnie residents are beginning to protest against the unwarrantable delsy tiiafc is taking place in connection -with tne construction of the tunnel. Bat 1 fancy 'they will protest in vain, for the simple reason that the Mayor and councillors have no time fOlf 01 KilMrnie, and are not likely to harass the contractor. I have so doubt had he been on§ of the smaller fry. they would hav§ been on Ms track long ago. It is to be hoped that some gentleman who 1143 the time will consent to stand at tt c next election, who will represent KUbirnie, when I am certain he would bfl returned. We should then havo somq chance of fair play, which we shall never get from the present council. While on the growl, I should liljg to know why the widening of Morhairiavenue i§ not being completed, as agreed ■with the property-owners. I understand that the strip of on the western side has been paid for, and the fences of three owners shifted back, leaving the rest to be finished any time — which may mean never. •I quite agree with "KilLirnie" that an indignation meeting wouia be better tiian raising funds for the opening celebsation, which ia a very long way off. — I am, etc./ KILBIRNIE No. 3.
