HOSPITAL SUNDAY.

MEETING OF BANDSMEN. The Hospital Sunday movement was considered afc a meeting of delegates from the various 'bands laßt evening. Mr. P. L. Dean presided, and there p were in attendance representatives from, the Garrison, Tramway, Jupp's, Cadet, and Engineers' Bands. A deputation, consisting of the chairman and Sir. P. J. Oakes (secretary), was appointed to wait on the Mayor with the object of obtaining permission to display canvas posters on trams -Advertising the proceedings on Hospital Sunday, which has been fixed for 2nd December. It was decided to have subscription lists placed in the factories at the end of the week, ,and tq distribute collecting boxes round the various hotels -at an early date. The march, "Hearts and Homes," was selected as the piece to be played by tlia^ combined bands. The question of trainband stand was discussed. It was stafc^ ed that the present rotunda on the Basin Reserve was in an unsuitable position, and that the playing of the respective bands would be much enhanced if they played on a temporary stand in the centre of the ground. It was decided to approach, the Mayor on the subject, with the idea of having a temporary stand erected. The positions of the bands on the programme were drawn as follows: — Garrison, Cadet, Jupp'6, Tramway, and Engineers. Mr. Dean, conductor of the Cadet Band, was drawn to tsonduct the selection played oy the combined bands. The routes along which the various bands are to march to the Basin Reserve were fixed. It was decided that each band should be prepared to commence marching at 2.15, and to arrive at the Basin Reserve at 3 o'clock.
