A maTried woman named Susan Cole was arrested hero lato yesterday afternoon on a charge of having on or about the month of June las>t, at Palmcrston, used' oeTtain instruments upon Agues Maughan, 'a married woman, for an unlawful purpose. Accused was before the Police Court this morning. On the application of the police she was remanded for eight days. The police .stated that the woman operated upon was between life and) death, and had, in fact, been given Up by the doctor. An application by accusod's counsel for bail was refused.
