At the Police Court yesterday Alice Blair, residing w- Cumberland-street, in the centrc-flf- the city was charged with sly grog-selling., Evidence was given by two constables, who joined the force on the first of the month, that they went to the house on Sunday, and were supplied with a bottle of" beer, for which they paid 3s. •' When leaving they asked for another- bottle' to take away with them, and tliis was.' supplied at the same price. Mr. ,0. C. Graham, S.M., imposed a fine of £50 Am] lit costs, and on a second, charge, urising out of a siniilar transaction the following day, a fine of £10 and costs wan inflicted. Sergeant King said th© woman hod' been carrying on business for yeara.
