Mr. J. W. Buddlo has been 'appointed Acting-Consular Agent for Franco at Christ church. Mr. D. Banks has been promoted to the position of clerk of the Magistrate's Court at Hastings, vice Mr. P<iSkerrett, fstired. - Mr. F. Aspinall is gazetted to the position of Assistant-Land Registrar and Deputy-Registrar of Deeds at Napier. Mr. H. L. P. Dyett has been appointed clerical cadet- in tho Department of Lands and Survey. Father J. D. Clancy's appointment as manager of St. Mary's Industrial School, Nelson, Is gazetted, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Geddis, of Wellington, will be passengers for Australia by tho Wimmera to-morrow. Mr. F. W. Flanagan will leave on Sunday to take up his new duties as Commissioner of Crown Lands at Nelson. Mr. A. Hamilton left for Chrjstchurch on Wednesday on Exhibition business. He expects to be back in Wellington next Tuesday. Mr. E, I. Hallenetein has been appointed Acting-German Consul at Dunedin, during the absence of the Consul (Mr. W. Fels). The Hon. J. M'Gowan, who is the siifinister in charge of the New Zealand Exhibition, will visit Christchurch tomorrow, and ofiioially inspect the works in progress. Father O''Hallahon, parisH priest of Kuniara, Westland. Thomas, Registrar of the Supreme Court at Auckland, reached Wellington from Sydney by the s.s. Moelaki. He proceeded to Auckland this morning. Mr. Thomas was one of the principal witnesses for the Crown in the criminal caae which arose out of the forgery of a will purporting to be that of a retired sea raptain, formerly in the employ of the Union S.S. Co. Mr. W. A. Hawkins, of the Wellington Supreme Court staff, who has been Acting-Regis-trar in Auckland, will return to Wellington early next week.
