Beautiful weather is being experienced for the first day of the Hawkes Bay Jockey Club's winter meeting, and the at: tendance is large. Results : — June Steeplechase, of 100 soys; two miles and a half.— South Star, 9.9, 1; No Shot, 9.7, 2; Lurcher, 10.5, 3. Sleepwell, No Shot, and Lurcher fell, but resumed running, South Star winning by half a mile. Dividend, £2 19s. Winter Hack Handicap, of 60 soys; one mile.— Nova, 10.9, 1; Pantaloon, 10.2, 2* Montigo, 9.12, 3. Scratched — Trent. Won by half a length, a head between second and third horses. Dividends, £2 5s and £1 Bs. Ladies' Bracelet, of 75 soys; one mile and a half.— Hipporofla, 12.7, 1; Hu'rimoana, 11.7, 2 ; Benair, 10.13, 3. Won ! by a length and a half; Benair a length away. All started. Time, 2min 47sec. Dividends, £3 9s and £2 14s. Whakatu Hack Hurdles, of 80 soys; tine mile and three-quarters. — Gold Seal, 9.0, 1 ; Anadeja, 10.2, 2 ; Whataroa, 9.0, 3. Scratched— Jack ,Pot, Ability and Paikea. Won by two lengths. Rechabite and Kaipetipeti fell on the flat. Time, 3min 26sec.
