ALLEGED THEFTS.
[BY TELEGRAPH- -PKESS ASSOOI VTIOW 1 AUCKLAND, 15th June. A second arrest has been made by the police in connection with tht burglary which occurred in Mount Roskill on 10th May, when a man named John O'Keefe and a companion were ssen to steal a horse, saddle, and bridle. The police losb sight of them for an hour or" two, during which time they entered a house in Mount Roskill and stole a number of valuables. They were chased, but escaped. O'Keefe was, however, arrested that evening, and pleaded guilty to the thefts, and was sentenced to five years' hard labour. The police have since been searching for O'Keefe's mate, and last nighty a man named John Fairley was arrested on a charge of stealing a quantity of' jewellery and two revolvers, valued at £12, the property of Sarah. Williams and Sarah Blanche Payne. He was brought before the Police Court this morning and remanded for a week.
