CHORAL SOCIETY CONCERT.
A full rehearsal of "Samson," Handel'n dramatic oratorio, was held by the Wellington Choral Society last< night, Mr. Maughan Bainett conducting. Prior to beginning the oratorio, the orchestral played "The Dead March in Saul" as a mark of respect to the memory of th» late Premier, and during an interlude subsequently, the society, on the motion of its treasurer (Mr. Pearson), adopted a motion of sympathy with the membera of Mr. Seddon's family, and the secretary was instructed to send a letter Of con» dolence to Mrs. Seddon. A successful rehearsal was held, the soloists (Misses Amy Murphy and Mina Caldow and Messrs. Leslie Hill and Arthur Ballance) being present. It was announced that th« concert, which wns to have been held this evening, had been postponed Uiilfill next Tuesday, on account) of the death of Mr. Seddon. ''Samson" is to be giveft definitely on Tuesday in the Town. Hall as ah ''In MemoTiam" concert, and tlio proceeds are to be devoted by the society to the Seddon Memorial Fund. During tine course- of the oratorio, which is a solemn composition, "the Dead Match mi Saul" forms a portion of the work, and those citizens who attend the concert on Tuesday Will be requested to stand whilst the orciieeUra plays the March as a mark of Tespect to the memory of Mr. Seddon.
