He alleges that some of th© officials utilise* the police for other than protective purposes, making it impossible to obtain proper protection. He reports serious outrages and murders in th© northern division. His native servants, he stated were set upon by hostile tribes. One was killed and another wounded. On another occasion a servant was killed and the murderers sent the cooked arm to Mr. Meek. Mr. Meek declares that unless the police protect him he will have to- protect himself, and if anything happens the fault will not be with him.
