NEW ZEALAND-NEW CALEDONIA FIJI-COOK ISLANDS STEAM SERVICE. r B VhNDERS are invited by the New Zea- «- land Government for a Steam Service Now Zealand to Cook Islands, via Norfolk Island, Now Calodonia, New Hebrides, Fiji, Tonga, and Niuo. CONDITIONS : Tenders to provide for (a) Four-weekly service. Ib) Six-weekly service. Loading and discharging in Now Zealand at Auckland and Wellington, . Wellington to bo tho terminal port and Auckland to be the final port of departure in New Zealand. Contract io be for a period of one, two, or Ihroo years, at Government's option. Steamers after departur3 from N/>w Zealand to cpll' at Norfolk Island, Noumea, Poit Vila, Suva, Tonga, Niuc, and Raratonga. thence lo Wellington, Xcw Zealand direct. Steamers to bo not less than 1400 tons sress register, and to bo able to lead end' discharge cargo at ports specified above. Lighterage, when nccassary, to bo paid by contractors. Speed of steamers to bo stated by tenderers. Steamers ara required to be fitted, an' (veil equipped for passenger and cargo trade, generally adapted for tho Island service. Steamers to coalain accommodation for not less than 40 saloon and 20 stuerago passengers. Steamers lo have sufficient cool space or refrigerator on board to supply at least the above number of passengers with fresh food throughout the voyage. Steamers to have suitable space on board for carriage of H.M. mails. Steamers to have accommodation to carry dairy and farm produce to port of destination in cood order and condition, and if requirea to bo able to carry livo stock to Norfolk Island, Noumea, or New Hebrides. - Tonderers to stale rales of freight and nassengoi- . money 1 required between all ports specified. No tender will, however, bo entertained if rates of freight or pasfago money are in excess of those luling from Sydney to specified ports at tho present time. Should any disputo arise over minor points, tho, mailer in disputo shall be rcforre'd to arbitration.
