PERSONAL MATTERS.
Mr. Roland St. Clair, formerly of Weilington, has been appointed Norwegian Vice-Consul at Auckland. Mr. O. Beere, solicitor, of Wellington, returned from a holiday trip to Australian by the Monowai yesterday. Mr. R. T. Turnbull, who has been on a visit to Sydney, returned fo Wellington yesterday. Mr. C. J. D. Skinner, formerly on the staff of the Government railways in this city and an ex-member of the Eighth New Zealand Contingent, is serving with Royston's Horse, which' was reported in yesterday's cables as having had a sharp skirmish with tho rebel natives in !Nntal. Tho information has airived from England that the King, on the recommendation of the Prince of Wales, has apppfnted the Primate of New Zealand (Bishop Kevill), and Mrs. S. A. Rhodes, of Wellington, respectively, 1 a sub-pre-late and an honorary .)■ -oc'nte of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem.
