-Q. — THE MORNINGTON ESTATE. The auction sale of the Mornington Estate held by Messrs. Dwan Bros, in the concert-room of the Town Hall last night attracted a very large attendance. The auctioneers report that the sale was highly successful, nearly everything offered being disposed of. About -forty sections were not offered, and are now open for private sale. The directors of the South Wellington Land Company, Ltd , purchased the property, consisting of '260 acres, from the Wilton Estate for £21,G00 a couple. of years ago. The first sub-division of about twenty-five acres has, the auctioneers state, realised , nearly half the amount that was paid for the block. Tlie tender of W. H. Bonnett at £1387 has been accepted for additions and alterations to the Premier's residence in Molesworth-street. The other tenderers were— R. A. Wakelin, £1460; W. E. Emenj, £1482; Howie and Matthews, £1632. To-day the Wellington Harbour Ferries Company officially celebrated the arrival of its new steamer Cobar.
