The annual New Zealand wheel race meeting was held this afternoon at Lancaster Park in beautiful weather. Several thousand spectators were present. The meeting was attended by the Premier and Sir Joseph Ward. Principal results : — Anniversary Handicap, of 9 soys ; half-a-mile.—C. F. Baker, 50yds, 1; H. E. Mehortens, 45yds, 2; M. Bandrup, scr., 3. Time, 59 2-ssec. Rndge-Whitworth Cup Handicap, two j miles.— H. Bowley, 80yds, 1; A. K. Falconer, scr., 2; A. H. Eagg, 40yds, 3. Time, 51^sec. New Zealand Wheel Race, of 50 soys; two mile 3. — M. Randrup, scr., 1; R. Rodgers, 180 yds, 2; A. Bonis, 200 yds, 3. Time, 4min 23 l-3sec. The back division caught the field before the last lap was reached. 'Randrup, who was lying in a handy position throughout, made a fast I sprint, and won by a length. |
