A collision occurred in Cloudy Bay on Saturday afternoon between the scows Jap and Rambler. Both vessels had been anchored in the Bay for some time when the Jap put out to sea. She was unable to get out, and in putting back to her anchorage ran into the Rambler, damaging the stationary vessel's fore rigging on the port side, and shifting the deck cargo of heavy railway material, borne minor damage was also done, but the hull of the Rambler was saved by the overhanging deck cargo. The only damage sustained by the Jap was the carrying away of her bob-stay. Captain Holmstrom, of the Rambler, made sail for Poit Underwood, and despatched a. telegram to Wellington for the assistance of a tug. The Duco left port last night and towed the Rambler back, berthing her at the Railway Wharf about midday. .The collision has been reported to the Collector of Customs. The Rambler was on her way from Wellington to Greymouth, and the Jap was voyaginc from Wellington to Wanganui.
