The scow Miuna, from the Manning River, arrived in the stream at 12.30 to-day, and was cleared by tho Health Ollicer about 2.45. The vessel has a cargo of lmrdwood for the Rotia. Bay wharf. There was a little mild excitement on the mam wharf at Timnru last week, caused by the efforts made to fend the big New Zealand and African liner Essex off the piles of the wharf. The great vessel was swinging slowly ugainst the wharf, and big white pine spais neie floated between her and tho wharf timbers as fenders. Every time the Essex's 10,000 tons came into contact with these fenders, the spars were reduced to matchwood, the chock shaking the wharf. Two spars were then shifted a little further along, so that fresh sections were brought opposite the piles, anil the operation wm thus continued for some hours. / BY TELEGRAPH. \ SYDXEY, 11th September.
