The by-election for tho vacancy in ths Elgin district, caused 'by the death of Mr. Alexander Asher, K.C., resulted aa follows : — Mr. Sutherland (Liberal) .. 2474 Mr. Rose Innes (Unionist) .. 1021 Elgin Burghs is a Liberal stronghold. At ths last general election the voting was .as follows : — Mr. A. Aeher, 1744° Mr. J. Moffatfc (Conservative), 1187.
