— .1 o RESULTS OF PLUMBING EXAMINATIONS. The result of the recent local examination in the theory- and practice of plumbing, for the certificate of the Wellington Technical School, are to band. There wore twentytwo candidates, an increase of ten 83 compared with August, 1904. Of these, ten obtained the full certificate, and six obtained a partial pass, entitling them to sit for one subject only at the next examination. The following candidates qualified for their full certificate ; — John Gardner, Thos. Horning, Chas. Murray, Alfred Nixon, Jas. Scott, Humphrey Sheehan, William Stewart, Chas. Fawthorpe, Thos. M'Laughlin, Arthur Phillips. Of these, John Gardner and Arthur Phillips obtained the mark "Excellent" for practice, James Scott an excellent in theory, Thos. Homing, Alfred Nixon, and Thos. M'Laughlin good in practice, Ernest Colenrm and Chaa. Murray good in theory. The following candidates obtained a partial paps, enabling them to complete their certificate by taking one subject only at the jieit examination : — Benjamin Ackroyd, Ernest Coleman, Alexander I Ross, Alfeul Thomas, Cba3. Redding, und John Kingdon. A gratifying feature of the examination was the fact that tho3O candidates who were allowed, undor the new rule.?, to complete their certificates by taking only the subject in which they hod failed at the last examination, all showed marked improvement, and obtained tho highest percentages in the examination. A movement is on foot at Blenheim to urge Government to acquire the property known as Meadow Bank for close settlement. The property contains 2200 acres of pastoral land, and is situate near Blenheim. A petition is in circulation for presentation to the Premier and the Minister of Lands. Tho Wellington Education Board has accepted the tender of Mr. Thos. B. Michell, of Masterton, lor the construction of a brick building in 'Masterton for •the cookery and science classes. The building will have four rooms, and bo only one alory in .height. The contract price is £1690, and the worl< is in be completed within lour montlio. A case in regard to compensation for accident was decided by Mr. Justice Edwards at Gisborno, Ernest Robert Purnell claimed £457 for accident by which he had his jaw injured through a knife from a moulding machine flying out. His Honour held that defendant was only liable for £40 lie, medical and dental expenses uud wages.
