NO-LIGENSE CAMPAIGN.
ADDRESS BY REV. L. 'M. ISITT. An interesting address on "Xo-License" was " 'delivered *in the Sydney-street Schoolroom last night by the Key. L. M. Isitt. Mr. H. Sanson was in the chair. Mr. Isitt related some of his experiences while travelling in, New Zea.-, land recently, and he expressed the opinion -after' what he had seen of late that -theref would be an enormously increased no-license vote at the nej^fc poll. What •the 1 advocates of temperance had to dread was the continuance' of the liquor. vtraßlc, and he urged all who had the welfare of the community at heart to inn their pencil through the top line -on tne ballot paper. If they did that, they might at feast . be free from re--sponsibility in the matter. He had the greatest respect for the Rev. Father Hays, and it was most gratifying to know that that gentleman had won thousands of votes for the temperance side. He wanted to know why the Moderates, ■who said they were sure they were ■right, did not come along and try to pulverise "the Little Father's statements. Mr. Isitt denied that he was getting £12QO a year for going round the country in the temperance cause. He dealt with the. effects of the traffic on the moral conditions of the people, and •pleaded for a righteous decision at the ballot bar. The usual votes of thanks were passed, the proceedings terminated. To-morrow the temperance campaign being conducted by the Rev. L. M. Isitt in this city will be brought to a close. Mr. Isitt will address a. Xewtown audience in Victoria Hall in the afternoon, commencing at 3 o'clock, whilst he is to hold a masg meeting in the Opera House .after the conclusion of the evening services<* These are the last two meetings to' H i)i, held by Mr. Isitt in Wellington before the poll.
