PARLIAMENT.
YESTERDAY'S SITTINGS. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. MARRIAGE LAW. The Marriage Validation Bill (to validate marriages with a deceased wjfe's niece or deceased husband's nephew contracted prior to the Act) was further ennsidered in Committee. There is, a proviso to the material clause of the Bill to the effect that the validation shall not extend to those mnrriages of tho kind under notice, the parties to which have lawfully remarried prior to the passing ' of the Act. The Statutes? Revision Committeo also added a. pro^ viso that the passing of the Bill should not deprive any person of any property lawfully inherited or acquired or becom^ ontitlod to prior to the coming into oporaf tion of the Bill, or affect any lis pendens, Some objection was taken bj f the Hoh. G. Jones and the Hon. W. Bolt to the first of those provisos, and ft motion by, the latter that tho Chairman leave the clinir was lost by 20 votes to 4. The provisos were then added, Snd the Bill reported as amended The Hon. G. Jones gave notice to move tho re-committal of Uio Bill to consider the point further. The Council rose at 3.20 p.m.
