The weather is fine and tho course in good order for tho opening of the Canterbury Jockey Club's Grand National meeting. Following are tho results : —

Trial Hurdles, of 150 soys ; 1$ miles. — Jewel Gun, 9.13, 1; Taxpayer, 9.0,- 2; Daredevil, 10.0, 3. Scratched — Romeo. Won by four lengths. Time, 3min 27&ec. Dividends, £2 17s. and £2 12s 6d.
