SUDDEN DEATH OF COUNCILLOR WILTSHIRE.
♦ Mr. George Wiltshire, a member of the City Council, foimerly City Engineer in Wellington, died suddenly this aiternoon. As he was transacting fcomo business in the office of Messrs Meek and Yon Haast, solicitors, about 3 o'clock, he fell forward on to the table, sank back into nis chair, and died. One- of his sons -naa present. Dr. Gault was called in, but he could do nothing. The deceased leaves two sons and two daughters. Ono of the hitler is the wifo of Mr. Mason, chemist, of Masterton.. Mr. Wiltshire, who was born in Surrey in 1846, qualified as a civil engineer in London, practiced his profession In that city and various parts of Englari3, and came out to New Zealand early in, the seventies. In 1876 he joined the staff of the Wellington Corporation, and became City Surveyor in 1888, a. position which ho held until some four years ago, when he went into private practice. To-morrow, at their rooms, Mannersstreet, at 2.30 p.m., Messrs. Sidoy, Moech and Co. will submit to public auction a list of freehold property, comprising a sovon-roomed house off Hnwker-stroot and two flections on tho racooourse, Island Bay, fronting Herwont-strool., The auctioneers stato that their instructions nro to isoll tlicso Bcctioiiß practically without reserve.
