Bellis is now favourite for the latter race at sto 1 ; 7 to 1 against Airey, and Bto 1 The Toiler and fiosun. RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES. OHRISTCHURCH, This Day. At 'Riccarton 'this morning, Golden Vein, Cannio Chiel, and Clanchattan galloped a mile in lmin Sljsec. Clanchattan'had the best of the "go." Magnificent and Catherine- Gordon covered a mile in lmin 55sec, tho, latter finishing the bettor of ths pair. Tho Mohican and Huku gave a fine fencing display, and Kohatu did a schooling 'task over big fences. There was little to.choos© hotween Shrapnel and Full Cry in a sixfurlongd brush, ran in lmin 23^6ec. Kremlin beat Tirolo by two lengths over a mile in lmin 53^8ec, tho lirst half being Tun in 56 2-& sec. Tupara and Bagpipes ran a mile and a half in 2min 57£ sec. Haydn and Narcissus did a schooling task over the fences. It was a good exhibition. Rose Madder brushed over four furlongs. Phaetonltis went two circuits at a sound pace. Creusot, Cavalry, and Heroism ware given a 1 school* ing task, the display being a creditable one. Manazona fenced well over three big fences. Eurua, with an advantago in weights, defeated Taxpayer over a mile in lmin 555ec. Newtown, Romeo, and Secret Society were sent over twelve furlongs. Newtown had a substantial lead, but was overtaken by Romeo. Tho time for tho full distance was 2min 55 l-fecc. Slow Tom defeated Royal Crown over half a mils. Lurcher was given a schooling task over four big fences. Victory and Pipi ran a mile and a half in 3min 7sec. Waiwera and Grand Jury went two circuits at three-quarter speed. Wet Rest and Trumpery were companioru> over six furlongs, run in lmin 25 3-ssec. Over sixty horses are in training Wet Sheet was scratched for the Grand National Steeplechase at 2.20 o'clock today. <
