"A, FESTIVAL OF PEACE." FRENCH FLEET IN ENGLISH WATERS. [PBES3 ASSOCIATION.! LONDON, 9th August. The- officers of the French squadron, now visiting England, witnessed the tracing for the King's Cup at Cowes. Some o f the officers visited Osborna House, and also attended a garden party giv-an by Viscountess Gort. Some London newspapers are printed partly in French in honour oi the visit of th© French .squadron. Parisian new&papers are unanimous in acclaiming the naval demonstration as "a- festival of pea.cc. Several of the journals declare that France is anxious to bo on good terms with all nations. The Temps 6ays : " The entente suffices for the actual interests of Britain and Franoa. Any attempt to prematurely extend its scope would be dangerous, but should these interests extend on parallel lines, the understanding -will tend to develop naturally." The King and Queen, the Prince of Wales, and the Duke of Connaught were present at Admiral Caillard's reception on board the battleship Jaureguibeny (11,637 tons). THE FLEET EEVIEWED.
